Chia Seeds - Health Benefits in 10 Minutes

The best thing about eating chia seeds is that they don't take any time to prepare. You can get chia seeds' health benefits in under 10 minutes and greatly enhance your daily food plan with very little work.

Health benefits of chia include omega 3 (the highest levels of any plant-based food), healthy proteins, dietary fiber and ample amounts of additional nutrients. Chia is nature's complete superfood, so purely by incorporating it in your eating plan you will enjoy a supercharge of energy and better health.

Researchers approve a daily serving of 15 grams of chia. This is approximately 1 level tablespoon. Here are 3 very simple methods to add this into your daily diet.

1. Breakfast Cereal With Chia

Fill a bowl with a liberal serving of muesli, fruit, and yogurt. (I like to use unsweetened yogurt and drizzle with honey.) Sprinkle with chia and serve!

Bonus: Add a touch of delectable color with sliced strawberries and bananas, or a handful of sweet blueberries.

2. Chia Toasties

This must be the most convenient lunch in the world! I love my electric sandwich press, but a toaster oven or full oven works just as well to prepare crisp, hot sandwiches.

Here's my favorite quick chia sandwich. I grab two slices of multi-grain bread and butter them. I sprinkle my tablespoon of chia over the buttered bread, because it sticks really well. Then I arrange red tomato slices, a slice of muenster cheese, baby spinach leaves, and fresh basil. If I have them handy, I throw on some sliced artichokes too.

You can't even taste the chia hidden in a sandwich, so this is an excellent way to add nutrition to your kids' lunches too! Try it in ham and cheese croissants, tuna melts, and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

3. Chia Green Salad

I enjoy crafting salads from scratch, but when I'm in a hustle I just get a bag of prepared salad from the grocery store. There are two ways to add chia to your green salads and enjoy a boost of nutrition:

  1. After the salad has been dressed, scatter the chia over the salad. The dressing will make it stick evenly and not fall to the bottom of the bowl.

  2. Add the chia directly to the salad dressing bottle and shake! This works with any dressing, whether its vinaigrette or creamy. Chia will make the dressing viscous and give it a beautiful texture. It enhances the taste, but in a very delicate way.
